Nurse Visiting to the Elderly/Health Visitor Assistants

Nurse Visitors to the Elderly work with Health Visitors to offer support and advice to older clients living in the community.

 

District Nursing

District Nurses treat patients at home, in Health Centres, Doctors' Surgeries in Social Services Homes and Day Centres and Private Residential Homes. They also provide advice and nursing aids to patients and their carers.

 

Evening and Night Service

This is an extension of the District Nursing Service and may be arranged by contacting the District Nursing Service.

 

Health Visitors

Health Visitors offer advice and support on all health issues relating to the prevention of ill health and disease. They visit all age groups in the home but with particular emphasis on families with young children.  All children under 5 have a named Health Visitor.  Contact your doctor or health centre.

 

Specialist Nursing Staff

A group of Nursing and Health Visiting staff provide liaison and/or treatment and advice to patients with particular illnesses or health problems. All specialists provide support to District Nurses and Health Visitors in the care of patients with specific needs.  There are Specialist Nurses in the following areas:

·        Diabetic Specialist Nurse

·        Stoma Therapist

·        Male Catheter Specialist Nurse

·        Continence

·        Tuberculosis

·        Audiology

·        Oncology (Cancer) Nurses (Macmillan and Breast Care)

·        Rheumatology

·        Parkinson’s Disease
