If you are receiving benefits and have a short-term stay in hospital or
residential care, it may affect your benefits.
If you want to find out about this contact Welfare Rights, the Citizens Advice Bureau or the Benefits Agency.
Someone who has long term or continuing health care needs should have
their needs assessed before they are discharged from hospital. If any services
are needed to help you manage at home, these should be arranged before you are
discharged from hospital. A booklet called, Continuing Care and You is
available from hospitals, GPs or from the PALS. See Community Care
or Social Services for more information about how an assessment is
carried out.
Hospital Chaplains can provide pastoral and spiritual care for patients
and relatives of hospital patients. Ward
Staff will be able to tell you how to contact a Chaplain.
Alternatively, a list of hospital chaplains for different faiths and
