 Back Care, Lifting and Bathing

 

For many carers, bad backs are an occupational hazard because of the lifting involved in caring.

 

It may be worth investigating if there are any Adaptations or Equipment which could reduce your risk of doing damage.

Occupational Therapists can also give advice about back care and lifting equipment.

 

BATHING

 

If the person you are caring for has difficulty with bathing, ask your GP if the District Nurse can help or contact your social worker.

 

Bathing facilities are available for people regularly attending local authority day centres.

 

There is a shower, available for public use and adapted for people with disabilities, at     Signposts.

 

A range of equipment is available to help make bathing at home easier
