1      Dial 999. The call is free.

2      State clearly why you need an ambulance.

3      Give further details as requested.

Outpatients

Ambulances for outpatient appointments may only be ordered by medical staff, GPs or consultants.

Escorts may only travel with the patient in the ambulance if the doctor says it is medically necessary, so make sure that this is clear when arrangements are made.

If you need to check that the correct arrangements have been made, phone Ambulance Control at least two days before the appointment.
