Cold Weather Payments

If you are receiving a State Pension and certain benefits you may qualify for a Cold Weather Payment or a Winter Fuel Payment.  If you qualify, these should be paid to you automatically.  Contact the Benefits Agency, Welfare Rights or Citizens Advice Bureau if you want more information.

Disconnection

A code of practice has been drawn up by the fuel industries to protect older customers. It states that if all the adults living in a house are over 60 they should not be disconnected between 1 October and 31 March.  No one should be disconnected if they cannot afford to pay. If you are likely to be disconnected, contact your gas or electricity company and tell them that you are a pensioner.
