Volunteer Information Centre (VIC)

The VIC is based at Lancaster District Council for Voluntary Service.  If you are interested in doing some voluntary work, make an appointment to see someone at the VIC and they will talk to you about what you would like to do and what the possibilities are.

British Red Cross

The British Red Cross welcomes people who can work within the Home from   Hospital Service.  You will have the satisfaction of knowing that your work will be appreciated and worthwhile and you will gain valuable community experience. All new volunteers receive training.  The training is lively and informative and provides an opportunity to meet other volunteers to learn about other British Red Cross Services. Volunteers are reimbursed for all out-of-pocket expenses and are covered by Red Cross insurance.  Support is always available from the Co-ordinator with access to professional advice if needed.  We hold regular group meetings, both formal and informal.

Lonsdale District Carers

Lonsdale District Carers would welcome new volunteers, who are willing to help people that are going through similar feelings and situations as they have been. The training that new volunteers receive is not rigid, and allows people to enjoy themselves while they learn new skills, as well as providing the opportunity to meet other carers. Volunteers can be reimbursed for their travel expenses, and all other out of pocket expenses. They can always get support from the Project Manager and the other administrative staff.
